LIBRARIANS REACHING OUT TO MILLENIALS WITH
SOCIAL TECHNOLOGY

Session 1: 9:30-12:30 – Sayre Library Tech Center – Lower Level

Presenter: Glenn Horton, Technology Coordinator for SouthWest Ohio and Neighboring Libraries.
Introduction: Judy Offutt, Sayre Librarian
Summary: In his talk Glen Horton will include:
1) Social Tools such as blogs, wikis, IM, and podcasting. He will discuss how libraries can better serve millennials (digital natives) by providing services using the same tools that millenials use with each other.
2) Thinking outside the Box which looks at some principles and practices of the unconventional library for drawing in millennials.
3) Demonstrations and Hands-on Experience.

Title: Round Table Discussion – Problem Solving Our Biggest Problem
Is it libraries reaching out to millenials or is it something else? Bring your biggest problem. Depending on attendance we will divide into two groups: elementary and high school librarians.

Session 3: 2:15-3:00 – Sayre Library – Upper Level

Title: Curricular Connections
Another way of reaching out! Bring one program that uses picture books in the curriculum.
